After about 10 hours, it felt like the story finally started. And usually I'm all for longer audible books, more listening time for my credit, but I think this is one of the few times I wished that the story was shorter. it doesn't add much to the story except length. 'oh won't someone save me! I've been stuck for years with my wicked step mother! And no one notices!' We get that her situation is horrible and stifling, but chapter after chapter after chapter showing just how horrible she has it. Austyn's character is just so cringe worthy for most of the story. If I was reading this rather than listening, I'd be fast skimming the chapters with Cassius and Austyn since they are so amazingly boring, especially Austyn. Not all the characters have met each other and the only characters I like are our insane Kyra and the humor of Drake a bit. There are two main females and two main males. Think horses and swords instead of cars and phones. It's high fantasy rather than paranormal. this is the first time in a long time that it was hard for me to get through the book. I loved the much lighter and more humorous Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac, and I hoped for something similar. A re-telling of Aladdin with the 40 thieves, genie, magic, princess, etc.

Cursed to adhere to the films’ launch windows, their development rushed to meet arbitrary deadlines, they also suffered from the traditional malaise of all movie licenses (or at least those from previous generations): with so much of their budget allocated to buying the rights to the IP, actually making the games becomes a secondary concern.Īdd to that J. Then the lines between air and water begin to blur. Lore's only seen the world under the lake once, but that one encounter changed their life and their fate. Bastián grew up both above the lake and in the otherworldly space beneath it. But Bastián Silvano and Lore Garcia are the only ones who've been there. Everyone who lives near the lake knows the stories about the world underneath it, an ethereal landscape rumored to be half-air, half-water. It was the books blurb that drew me to this one: It had the perfect blend of action, intrigue, romance, humour, and cool sci-fi technology! It also really helped that I found Michelle Diener's writing to be quite engaging and that I was interested in the plot and emotionally engaged with the likeable characters. I really loved this character driven sci-fi story. Winner of a SFR Galaxy Award 2016 and the Prism Award 2016 for Best Futuristic.
